VIEW4 Databases

Three central VIEW4 databases are:

  • The Configuration Database keeps the configuration data about all of the implemented software and hardware components.  It is crucial for the system buildup and the SCADA startup.
  • The Source Database keeps SCADA data, means data about: descriptions, texts, algorithms, images, sequences, etc.
  • The Real-Time Database - RTDB is a memory resident SQL database, accessible by different application programs through the SQL command interface, and also the “shared memory mechanism”.  It keeps all operational data (acquired data, processed data and other data) at the single place, making them available to all programs whenever they need them by providing the fast data sharing and processing in a “real-time” manner.  A simplified RTDB block diagram points to major RTDB data manipulation.

There are also few more specialized databases within certain application modules, like:

  • Archive Database - keeps archived data for online and offline processing and reporting.
  • Event Database - keeps archived data related to the customized events, chronological SOE recording, and similar custom data processing.
