VIEW4 System Management Gateway - SMG presents a powerful module, which contains a set of online system management programs that fully support SCADA system in its basic mission.  SMG presents a central SCADA monitoring hub, and a sophisticated operational console of the overall SCADA system.  SMG provides continuous preventive monitoring of all SCADA software and hardware parts with an automatic reporting of the eventual problems in the operation.  SMG provides:

  • Continuous status monitoring of all mission critical SCADA system activities;
  • Continuous SNMP monitoring of other critical system software and hardware components;
  • Secure E-mail and SMS alerting and warning support;
  • Online graphical and textual SMG reporting;
  • System lweb support;
  • Interface/gateway toward company IT resources;
  • Periodic backup of critical system configuration data;
  • Other administrative and monitoring tasks - full customization on per needed basis.

A basic SMG overview displays a full SCADA infrastructure with support for detailed on-line status and historical SMG reporting:

An SMG Overview

Each row presents a specific SCADA component (like SCADA server, archive server, HMI subsystem, power supply unit, or similar), with columns dedicated to certain resources/ services related to the component.  By selecting a specific service, a comprehensive colored (green for OK, yellow for warnings, and red for alerts) online service status display is invoked.

Service Status Overview

Service monitoring could be set temporarily offline, to prevent expected ongoing service changes and unnecessary alert and warning messages (when the corresponding status color becomes blue).  Various long-term reportings are also available on demand - through the provided query-type interface:

A powerful and comprehensive SMG Help support facilitates SMG handling and usage - simply by clicking on a provided tutorial a full scale SMG documentation will be presented online.

SMG is a real SCADA system gateway toward operators and maintainance crew.  To fulfill this important mission, a communication with other company (out-of-SCADA) IT resources is needed, i.e., SMG has to match the company IT structure, as well as the imposed SCADA-related business policy.  Consequently, SMG provides a high level of inherent flexibility and scalability, required to cover a wide range of different scenarios in SCADA implementations.
